Seva (Service) is a spiritual practice. Seva is a beautiful way to deepen your spiritual understanding. When you approach seva with an open attitude of surrender/letting go, your seva offers you an opportunity to grow spiritually.
Seva is the giving of your time and skills while releasing all desires for a return. Seva appears to go against the commonly accepted work ethos in contemporary society. Beliefs and ideas you have around assumed 'exchange' for your work are now challenges for you to explore. How you manage these provocations largely determines your capacity for spiritual growth through seva. When you serve within a spiritual context drop all expectation of recognition. It is only the personal I that seeks recognition, approval, an improved self-image and pay-back. Do not think that you are doing the work. Let the work happen.
Seva is for your own spiritual growth; it is not free work that is required by a spiritual teacher. The spiritual teacher is not reliant on your input; however, your service may help to disseminate spiritual material and create access to the teachings.
A spiritual teacher naturally attracts a community to them and being part of a seva community is also an opportunity to be energetically closer to a teacher and the teachings. When seva is appropriate for your spiritual path, something energetic can occur and your connection to the teacher and the teachings deepens. If you are drawn to offer some of your time and skills, you can apply by sending us the online seva application.
Accepted applicants will be given access to a Support Room, a discussion forum open only to people involved in Jac's Seva Community. A spiritual teacher, who works closely with Jac, moderates and responds to your posts made in the Support Room. In this way, you have access to guidance on your spiritual path, to help you deal with whatever issues are presenting as a result of your seva. Jac oversees this Support Room.
Jac's Seva Community offers a contemporary model for spiritual growth through the ancient tradition of selfless service.
